Cherise Makubale Foundation - Our Mission

Uplifting Communities at Grassroots Level

The Cherise Makubale Foundation is a non-profit organisation that supports various programs in the Copperbelt communities of Zambia, focusing on sustainable development and community empowerment.

About CMF

The Cherise Makubale Foundation (CMF) is an initiative of Cherise Makubale, the inaugural winner of Big Brother Africa. After many years of being involved in various charitable projects across Zambia, she is now living abroad and has streamlined her foundation to focus exclusively on helping communities in the Copperbelt region of Zambia.

This regional focus ensures better transparency, logistics and management as all the team is based on the Copperbelt, with Ndola as the main hub of activities.

We are a mobile charity with funding of between K5,000 and K15,000 depending on allocation and funding available. We do not sponsor individuals, nor sponsor churches. We also do not fund Tertiary Fees nor give out loans. The emphasis is more on the collective needs of a group rather than an individual.

Our Two Main Programs

The Cherise Makubale Community Fund (CMCF) - which is the main vessel for distributing funding across the Copperbelt

The ODI Kuno Program - which is a grocery support program for widows and widowers in various communities of Ndola.

Under CMCF, various groups such as orphanages, community schools, youth groups, sports academies, women's groups, and groups supporting people living with various disabilities in the Copperbelt are encouraged to apply for a share of the Fund.

Examples of funding include:

  • An orphanage needing blankets, mattresses, mosquito nets etc
  • A women's group needing a peanut butter machine, seed for planting, clothing etc
  • A basketball team needing jerseys and basketballs
  • The visually impaired needing braille material
  • Community development projects and infrastructure support

The ODI Kuno program is purely a food support program to help with daily household needs in Ndola and surrounding Copperbelt communities.
