Foundation Update: Streamlined Operations
After many years of working across different towns in Zambia, we're excited to announce our streamlined approach to community support, focusing exclusively on the Copperbelt region.
A New Chapter for Greater Impact
After many years of working in different towns across Zambia, the Cherise Makubale Foundation has made the strategic decision to streamline all operations to focus exclusively on the Copperbelt region. This focused approach allows us to achieve better management, improved logistics, enhanced accountability, and greater transparency in all our community support efforts.
Why the Copperbelt Focus?
By concentrating our efforts in one region, we can:
• Better Management: More direct oversight of all programs and initiatives
• Improved Logistics: Streamlined distribution and support systems
• Enhanced Accountability: Closer monitoring of program outcomes
• Greater Transparency: More detailed reporting and community engagement
Our Core Programs
Cherise Makubale Community Fund
Our primary program targeting small charitable projects that directly help communities including orphanages, community schools, women's groups, youth groups, and sports organizations.
Focus: Direct community impact through targeted support
ODI Kuno Program
A specialized food support program specifically designed for widows and widowers, continuing for the next 3 years to ensure consistent nutritional assistance.
Duration: Committed support through 2027
What We Support
Through the Cherise Makubale Community Fund, we support various community needs that make a direct difference in people's lives:
Community Support Items
- Educational materials and books
- Blankets and clothing
- Mosquito nets for health protection
- Mattresses for comfort and rest
- Skills training programs
- Building materials (blocks, cement)
- Sports equipment for youth development
- Essential supplies for orphanages
- Equipment for women's groups
- Resources for community schools
Our Operational Model
We are a small mobile charity working directly in communities with the invaluable help of dedicated volunteers. Our funding typically ranges between K5,000 and K15,000 depending on allocation and available resources, allowing us to make meaningful impacts while maintaining financial sustainability.
Important Policy Updates
Individual Sponsorship: We no longer sponsor or fund individuals unless at the discretion of the founder. However, we remain committed to seeing through the few individuals we currently sponsor.
What We Don't Fund: We do not provide loans, sponsor businesses, or sponsor churches. Our focus remains on community-based charitable projects.
Community Focus: All support is directed toward initiatives that benefit multiple community members rather than individual requests.
Working Together
Our success depends on the strong partnerships we've built with local communities and volunteers. As a mobile charity, we bring support directly to where it's needed most, ensuring that resources reach the people who need them without unnecessary administrative overhead.
This streamlined approach allows us to be more responsive to community needs while maintaining the high standards of transparency and accountability that our supporters expect from us.
Looking Forward
By focusing our efforts on the Copperbelt, we're not limiting our impact—we're intensifying it. This strategic decision enables us to build deeper relationships with the communities we serve, understand their needs more thoroughly, and provide more effective, sustainable support.
We're excited about this new chapter and the enhanced impact we'll be able to achieve through our focused approach. Together with our volunteers and community partners, we'll continue to uplift communities at the grassroots level across the Copperbelt.
